Gord Ellis

Visit him at: www.gordellis.com A life long resident of Thunder Bay, Gord Ellis cut his teeth fishing for speckled trout and steelhead on Mcvicar Creek. Gord's made a career out of his passion, and since 1986, has made his living writing about fishing, hunting and the outdoors. His weekly newspaper column, Sporting Life has appeared in the Chronicle Journal every Saturday since 1990. For many years, he supplied all the features for the papers outdoors page. Gord has written countless magazine articles for publications such as In Fisherman, Walleye Insider, Sentier Chasse Peche, Minnesota Outdoor News, North American Fisherman, Outdoor Life and Outdoor Canada. He's also written for several non "hook and bullet" publications including the Financial Post and Readers Digest. He's had a long relationship with Ontario Out of Doors Magazine, and became Fishing Editor of that publication in 1999. Gord's also a regular contributor to CBC radio in Thunder Bay, and has been the station's Outdoor Columnist since 1993. As a member of the Outdoor Writers of Canada, he's won 14 National writing and photography awards. Gord's a multi species angler, and is especially happy when he's fishing for brookies, casting for muskie, topwater fishing for smallmouth or mooching Pacific salmon. Gord is sponsored by Railside Sports in Dryden, and is on the Lund and Yamaha Pro staff. His rod sponsor is Richard's Rod and Reel, in Devlin. Gord enjoys fishing tournaments, and claims to have even done OK in a couple of them. In a former life, he played guitar in several popular blues and rocks bands. His two boys Devin and Austin, and his wife Cheryl, frequently out fish him.
