Tips For Catching Walleye

There are many ways to catch walleye. If someone were to keep typing here they would be staring at a screen for a long time.

This is why I chose to write about seasonal locations other than using certain types of lures and baits. In some of the sections I mention a bait or lure that has worked for me in the past but I'm sure others would work equally or even better.

The best tip that I could give anyone on catching more and bigger walleye is to watch, read and ask questions about everything you could think of concerning walleye. Some very basic questions should be directed to your M.N.R. or D.N.R. office closest to you. They are a fountain of testing and creel information that I think is under used by many fisherman.

Reading magazines and watching videos concerning walleye are also a great benefit to an angler. Basic and advanced techniques are readily available from these sources.

There are many anglers out there that enjoying telling others what has worked for them. Myself for example will tell you that 75% of my largest walleye were taken on a slip float and a leech. A very basic technique to use. Other large walleye were taken on down riggers trolling over a 120 feet of water!

So in short there are many ways to catch walleye. I will try to bring them to you as I can.
