Geraldton Walleye Classic

The Geraldton Walleye Classic is an annual walleye fishing tournament held near the end of June of each year in Geraldton Ontario (Greenstone).

The Two day tournament takes place on Kenogomisis lake which surrounds the Northern Ontario town of Geraldton. Around 120 boats in two person teams take to the water each day from Macleod Park and spread out over the lake. The end of the day is a daily weigh in of each teams largest fish.

Is this derby a go this year or not. No info on web site. Was trying to book my days off but didn’t see any info on it. I remember last years numbers low. Does anyone know what’s going on. I will book Sioux lookout if it’s a no go

Poker Derby !!!!

Okay last season the weather was brutal snow was too deep minus 30 etc etc. so we didn’t do the ice fishing poker Derby.

This year we are bringing it back !!

Every fish gets a card. Best poker hand gets the cash. Biggest fish get the prizes !!

Stay tuned to this thread for date time location and prizes !!!

Last event everyone went home with prizes and was an awesome turnout !!

T. B. F. Team Icefishing Challenge.

Teams will be allowed to enter 100 fish. You may cull out smaller fish once you reach 100.

Pictures of fish must show the length on a measuring tape and the logo must be included in the picture of the fish.

Each team will have their own photo album to upload their pictures.

Fish caught must be caught legally while ice fishing only. No out of season fish or slot fish allowed.

You may fish anywhere there is ice!

You don’t have to fish with your team. Just contribute to your teams total length.

Contest begins Dec. 15th and ends when the ice is done or April 15th. Which ever comes first.

Who would be willing to be a team captain? Captains have to keep track of teams total length and are responsible for culling their teams fish.

Roger.

Tales from the Tournament Trail.

I’m sure some of you heard this one before but hey, I’ll type it out for those who haven’t.

I was fishing the FLWC a number of years ago. The night before I ate junk food, lots of it and had some “pop” to go along with it.

When my partner woke me up in the morning he said for me to hook up the batteries and he’ll get our boat package. So I stood on the side of the trailer and unhooked the charger and went to lift the battery back into position. all of a sudden my stomach made a really weird noise. I shrugged it off as a whatever and lifted the battery again. Well let me tell ya sumpin!!! My glutious maximus slammed shut!!!! I must find an outhouse and I must find it now!!!

So I did the trek to the outhouse using the coveted Olympic speed walker strut. As soon as I rounded the corner there’s 3 guys jogging on the spot waiting to use the outhouse! I almost started crying. I ran back to the boat and grabbed the toilet paper.

I remembered a path through the tag alders and proceeded down the path. It was getting worse. A few more steps and I saw a 2×4 nailed to two balsams!

You know when your rear end knows it’s near a toilet? Well mine did. I was wearing sweat pants and I rifled them down. That’s as far as I got. It came outta me like wildfire!!!! It sounded like taking a handful of sand and throwing it against the leaves!!! Then I hear someone say “Nice”

I turned my head and about 30 feet directly behind me is this guy (who was trying to hide as he heard me coming through the bush and hanging onto a small birch) and he had full view!!!

I was laughing and trying to apologize. All he said was “Dat’s gonna take a long time to get outta my head!!!!”
