I began fishing roughly when I was three years old, usually fishing
lakes up the Spruce River Road for Walleyes. It wasn't until I was 15 that I
started bass fishing and later fished my first bass tournament that Summer. (The
Kenora Bass International). From the moment we left the take off, I fell in
love with the sport. It wasn't until I got a little older that I started fishing
competitively in various tournaments around the region. I bought my first bass
boat when I was 19 and won my first bass tournament in 2006 (The Shebandowan
Smallmouth Showdown).
My favourite rig to fish is one of the simplest, a 4'' tube weighted
with a 3/32oz jighead. I match this right up with braided line and a 4'
flourocarbon leader and throw it with a 6'8'' Shimano
Cumara with a 2500 series
Shimano Sustain; almost impossible to beat.

Get out on the water as much as possible. Familiarize yourself with the
body of water you are intending to fish and get used to fishing a variety of
baits. Do not just fish in optimal conditions, get out on those soggy and windy
days and experiment. You can almost guarantee that you will learn something
new, and the best part about it, you may just have the lake to yourself.
